The Things I Did Wrong When Buying A Used Car

Just a couple of months ago, I bought a used car and to be perfectly honest this was a huge mistake. I have found that since I bought it I have had hassle after hassle. I am seriously considering just dumping this heap of junk somewhere. The fact that I can't afford to get another car is the only thing stopping me. I made quite a few mistakes when I bought this car; not just one. Below are a few of the mistakes that I made:

  • I really don't know much about cars but I thought it would be fine for me to check it out myself. Nobody who knew about cars would have bought this car. Every time I take the car to my mechanic, he says he cannot believe that I actually paid for this car.

  • My next mistake was that I failed to investigate what the average selling price was for this type of car. The seller of this car knowingly sold me a pile of junk and for a higher price than the average; I don't know how he can live with himself. However because I had no idea of the fair price for the car, I have to shoulder some of the blame. I basically invited him to overcharge me.

  • I feel embarrassed to admit this, but I did not take the car for a test drive first of all. I was embarrassed about my driving skills because I am a new driver. Having this pride is something I am regretting every day. I really do believe that had I taken that test drive, I would have noticed the problems with the car.

When the moment has come that you should be seeking out used cars, you are always better off trying to groundwork your autos in advance. Researching will let you discover the best possible used cars for the category you may be trying to find. Once you've finished, you may well find youself driving away from the dealers in a used car.
